Scrapbooking Made Easy
Step-by-Step

Are you new to scrapbooking, or feeling overwhelmed by all the possibilities? These scrapbooking made easy tips are just what you need.

Scrapbooking is growing so fast, and there are so many options out there.

We will cover some basics that you can master and build on.

Tips for Scrapbooking Made Easy

Let's take a look at some beginner scrapbooking tips & techniques that will take the stress out of getting those photos into beautiful scrapbooks.

Choose a Theme

With so many pictures it can be difficult to decide where to start. A theme can give a scrapbook focus and define what the pictures included are about. Some things to consider in choosing a theme are

  • Who the album is for
  • Time available to complete the album
  • Scope – in depth or overview, covering several years or a single event

A theme can be based chronologically; such as baby's first year, or Christmas pictures from each year. Another option is based on subject; pictures of all the sports the family is involved in, or the family's vacation to Disneyland.

Choose the Photos

Now that you have a theme for your scrapbook it will be easier to narrow down which pictures you want to include in that album.

An album theme could include a few photos from each vacation covering many years or many pictures from a single vacation. Just make sure you choose the best pictures you have. Don't try to include every picture you have taken. A scrapbook is a place to showcase you pictures. This is not the place for pictures that are too dark, or blurry.

Choose an Album

Once you have decided which pictures to include in your album you have a better idea of what album size is best for your project.

An 8 X 8 album may be just right for the pictures from your last vacation. If you are planning to include pictures from your family vacations covering the last ten years you may want to go with a 12 X 12 album.

Choose Paper and Embellishments

Now it is time to choose the papers and embellishments that will support the theme of your scrapbook and compliment the pictures.

Make a list of needed supplies. Find out what you have on hand and what you will need to get. This will help prevent purchasing supplies you already have.

Finding a Workspace

In an ideal world our workspace would be a secluded spot with little traffic or interruption. A place where we could leave our project out so that we could utilize short periods of time to work on our albums.

Of course we live in the real world, so let's try to find the best spot we can. If you don't have a spot where you can leave your project out, try to keep your supplies organized. This way it will not take long to get your project out and clean up afterwards.

Finding the Time

Sometimes it seems hard to find the time to work on our scrapbook projects. While we may be able to complete a small album in a couple of days, a larger album may take awhile. Don't get discouraged.

It's okay to take some time to complete a project. Break your project down. Make use of small blocks of time, even if you only complete a few pages. Just keep making progress.

Keep these tips in mind and you're on your way to scrapbooking made easy!
