There are many different types of albums. These scrapbook tips can help you find an album that suits your scrapbooking project. Make sure that your album and it's pages are acid free. Some different types of albums include: Three Ring Bound – Easy to use and you can easily rearrange pages. Use of page acid free page protectors is recommended. The size of the ring dictates the capacity of the album. When the scrapbook is open the pages may be separated by the ring. This may not be desirable for a two page spread. Post Bound – Similar to Three Ring Bound, but uses posts. May use same style of page protectors. Additional posts may be added to increase capacity of album. Allows pages to lie relatively flat when opened with virtually no separation in pages. Spiral Bound – A spiral binding gives you a fixed number of pages. Expansion is not available with this type. Side loading page protectors may be used. Strap Bound – Expandable strap hinges allow additional pages to be added. Rearranging pages is not as easy. You must take apart the book to rearrange pages. When open adjacent pages lie flat without the hinge being seen. You will need page protectors designed for this type of album.
There are several album sizes available. You can determine the best album size by the number of photos that will be included in the scrapbook. What other memorabilia will be included on the pages. Another factor may be how the album is used, even personal preference. Here are some scrapbook tips that will help you decide which size is best for your project.
12 X 12 - This size is a popular size that allows for pictures and memorabilia on the page without crowding. Papers and embellishments are readily available for this size. 8 X 8 - 9 X 9 or 6 X 6 depending on manufacturer. This is a great smaller size. Great for smaller projects, easy to complete. Papers and embellishments are also available for this size. 8 1/2 X 11 - This size is becoming obsolete. Other sizes with proportional height and width seem to be more popular. Other sizes may be available.
Take these scrapbook tips and make them your own. Have fun on your journey to completing your projects.
