Basic Scrapbook Supplies

Don't know which scrapbook supplies you need?

scrapbook supplies

You don't have to make a huge investment to start scrapbooking. You can get started with some basic scrapbook supplies. Those memories are just begging to get out of that shoe box and onto those pages. So let's get going.

There are so many products available. Here are my suggestions.

Albums

There are different styles and types of albums available. Choose the album type and size that is best for your project.

Just make sure that your album is archival quality. We don't want to damage the photos.

A lot of love and work go into your scrapbooks, we want them to be around for generations to come.

Sheet Protectors

I recommend using sheet protectors for all of your album pages. They protect your photos and memorabilia from handling and the elements.

I like side loading sheet protectors. This keeps dust from collecting in the pages as the albums stand on a shelf.

Make sure that the albums you choose allow for the use of page protectors.

Trimmers and Scissors

You can get by with a good pair of scissors. A paper trimmer can really save time.

Paper trimmers come in several sizes. I prefer a small trimmer for cropping pictures.

12 X 12 trimmers are also available to quickly cut larger papers for page decoration.

Adhesive

There are many options for adhesives. I prefer photo tabs/splits or tape runners.

Just make sure your adhesive is archival quality and acid free. Some adhesives will deteriorate, and may damage your pictures or lose their adhesion.

Paper

Paper will be the base of your page. Some albums come with pages, or have pages available to go with the album. With other albums you may use various papers to create your pages on.

Paper may also be used to cover a portion of a page or mat your photos. As with other scrapbooking supplies choose acid free.

Pens

A black pen will work for journaling in your scrapbook. You may want to use other colors for journaling or decorating your pages.

You can use colors that compliment the papers or photos used on that page. Pigment-based inks are best for your scrapbook. You want your writing to last for a lifetime.

You may also use a computer to type and print out your journaling. This method lets you experiment with different sizes and fonts, but loses the handwritten quality. Be sure to print on acid free paper.

Photos and Memorabilia

Of course the most important is your photos and memorabilia. Don't get overwhelmed. Start with your most recent photos, the work back.

Taking simple steps to organizing those photos and keep going!

What are you waiting for? Get those memories out of the shoebox and into your albums. These basic scrapbook supplies will do the job.
