Looking for some ideas for doing scrapbooking? Whether you are a beginner or just out of ideas, it can be frustrating trying to keep the ideas flowing.

Sometimes I feel like I am in a rut, feeling like all of my pages look the same. Sometimes I just don't feel creative. What can we do to get out of the rut? Where can we look for new scrapbook page layout ideas?

Memorabilia is a great addition to your page. Finding a theme for your scrapbook can keep you focused. Let's take a look at some fun ideas for doing scrapbooking.


Scrap Your Scraps

What do you do with your scraps? You know, all those little bits of leftovers.

We all end up with sticker sheets that only have a couple of stickers left on them. There are always letters that never get used on alphabet sticker sheets.

Then there are the pieces of photos that get cropped off, not to mention all of the leftover pieces of paper.

Don't just throw them away! Here are some ideas for doing scrapbooking that will show you how to scrap your scraps.

With a bit of creativity they can really dress up your pages.

First, let's get those scraps organized. Sort out and store all those left over stickers, interesting bits of photos and leftover bits of paper.

  • Alphabet Sticker Soup
    Combine all of your left over alphabet stickers. Use different styles and colors of letters to create fun scrapbooking page titles. Place random letters, numbers and symbols on a border for school pages.

  • Reverse Photo Matting
    Change things up a little in your page layouts. Try using the scraps of paper you have punched shapes out of to mat photos. Cut the scrap into a square or rectangle around where the shape was punched out. Place this mat over the photo instead of underneath. You can add some embellishments to the mat to add more interest.

  • Site Build It!

  • Calling All Shapes
    Utilize leftover bits of paper by punching shapes out of them. You can also use the frame of the shape that was cut. Cut different sizes of a shape and layer them to add more interest.Re-use the die-cut frames after you punch out the die-cut shape. Trim around the frame and use it on your page, or trace the shape onto your page with pens.

    Use different shapes to make patterns such as a paw print or a butterfly. The paw print can be made by using four circles and a heart. The butterfly can be made using two hearts and two circles.

  • Doodles
    Did you get into trouble for doodling when you were a kid? Well, now you can doodle until your heart's content. Try bringing you page to life with a few doodles. You don't have to be an artist to doodle. A few dots or squiggly lines can do a lot. Add a border to your photos by doodling around it with dashes or dots. Add some squiggly lines around your page title.

  • Sticker Collage
    Use stickers to create a collage border along the edge of your page. Try cutting a sticker into two pieces and put one piece along the edge of the page and use the other piece along the other edge. Add journaling or doodles for more interest.

  • Photo Scraps
    Don't just throw away those scraps of photos that were cropped off. These can be used to add color and texture to a page. Photo scraps with ocean, sky or foliage work well. Try matting shapes or letters for a scrapbooking page title with them.
