Digital Scrapbooks have exploded onto the scene. Instead of a shoebox of memories, we have cyberspace.

Everyday we use computers and receive email. We have cell phones, MP-3 players and digital cameras. It's not surprising that scrapbooking has gone digital.

There is no need to print photos for digital albums. Photos can be stored electronically on your computer or other storage device.

Your pictures can be placed directly into layouts. These layouts can resemble traditional pages if desired, or create your own digital look.

There are many photo editing options. With just a click of the mouse, your photos are changed to black and white or sepia tone. Many techniques and filters may be applied to your pictures.

Sharing these pages or albums is fun and easy. Pages can be emailed or posted online. Many websites allow you to create albums to share with friends and family.

Albums can also be burned onto CDs and DVDs. Pages or albums can be printed. Copies of albums or pages are easy to make, unlike traditional pages.

No need to make duplicate pages for multiple albums. Just print additional copies.

There are many options to choose from. There are options for the novice, as well as veteran scrappers and computer users.

Digital Scrapbooking Options

  • Digital scrapbooking sites allow you to upload your photos. You can create your album on their website, eliminating the need to install software on your computer. You must have Internet access to take advantage of this method. Many offer options for printing and sharing your creations.

  • If you prefer not to work online there are many choices in scrapbooking computer software. Some programs are created specifically for creating digital albums. Often these include predesigned templates. Simply choose the template you want and drag, then drop the pictures into them. Some programs allow you to edit the templates or create pages from scratch.

  • Another option is graphics programs such as Photoshop Elements. These programs allow you to create your own pages. This option is great for those who wish to have total control over their digital scrapbooking layouts.

Creating scrapbooks using computer scrapbooking software can be fun and rewarding. There is an option to suit your style. It doesn't matter if you are a newbie. Are you a traditional scrapper? Join the digital age and have fun!
