Should I include something in my scrapbook that may not be acid free?

How to include the acid with acid-free safely
by: Sharon

When I wanted to include wrapping paper from our wedding in my wedding scrapbook along with a photo, I placed a coordinating piece of scrapbook paper I knew to be acid-free or photo-safe between the wrapping paper and the photo. It still looks good. Hope that helps.

Separate or buffered
by: Anonymous

It is usually better to use acid free items/products in your scrapbooks. Sometimes it's difficult to know whether memorabillia is acid free.

If you want to include something that you are not sure about, make sure the item is not touching any photos. Make sure your pages or paper are buffered (this will keep acid from transfering to other papers/photos), or place the item in a memorabillia pouch.

For things like newspaper clippings, try making a photocopy or scan and print on acid free paper.
